PropofolVet Multidose (propofol injectable emulsion)

The first generic propofol injectable emulsion for dogs, PropofolVet Multidose is used for induction of anesthesia, for maintenance of general anesthesia by intermittent bolus injections for short procedures, or for induction of general anesthesia where maintenance is provided by inhalant anesthetics.

Product Details

Indications: PropofolVet Multidose is an anesthetic injection for use in dogs as follows:
- For induction of anesthesia.
- For maintenance of general anesthesia by intermittent bolus injections for short procedures.
- For induction of general anesthesia where maintenance is provided by inhalant anesthetics.
Dosage & Administration:
- Administer by intravenous injection only.
- Induction of General Anesthesia:
  - Titrated over 60-90 seconds against the response or until clinical signs show the onset of anesthesia.
  - Induction range of 3.2-7.6 mg/kg over 60-90 seconds.
- Maintenance of General Anesthesia:
  - Anesthesia can be maintained by administering in intermittent IV injections.
  - Maintenance range of 2.0-3.2 mg/kg over 60 seconds.

Concentration: 200 mg/20 mL
Packaging: Available in carton of one 50 mL multidose vial or carton of five 20 mL multidose vials.

Important Safety Information

Not for use in humans. Keep out of the reach of children. Rare cases of self-administration have been reported, including fatalities. PropofolVet Multidose is contraindicated in dogs with a known hypersensitivity to propofol or its components, or when general anesthesia or sedation are contraindicated. Rapid bolus administration (induction or maintenance) or accidental overdosage of propofol may cause undesirable cardiorespiratory depression including hypotension, apnea and oxygen desaturation. Respiratory arrest (apnea) could occur. In cases of respiratory depression, stop drug administration, establish a patent airway, and initiate assisted or controlled ventilation with pure oxygen. Cardiovascular depression should be treated with plasma expanders, pressor agents, antiarrhythmic agents or other techniques as appropriate for the observed abnormality. When using propofol, dogs should be continuously monitored and facilities for the maintenance of a patent airway, artificial ventilation, and oxygen supplementation must be immediately available.
